just wondered if others with dcs at nursery lose clothes regularly. my dd has been at nursery for 4 weeks and already, we've lost a vest, a pair of trousers and a top, on separate occasions. i have mentioned them to her keyworker but dont want to nag! none of them are expensive or anything but with two of them, it was the first time she'd worn them. i name her spare clothes but would they expect me to name absolutely everything i send her in? usually, they bag up dirties and either put them in their bags or hang them on their pegs. i suspect the trousers were put in someone else's bag as she was wearing a pair of trousers that didnt belong to her (very nice ones!) but i expected that parent to return them, as i did with the nice trousers!
what do your nurseries do? should i just forget them?

everything should be labelled.

really? blimey, i'll be there for hours -she goes through at least two outfits a day! it also means i cant send her in certain clothes which we have borrowed from people and they are expecting back when we are finished with them .
thanks misdee.

Yes label label label
I'd give up on the clothes already lost if not expensive and put it down to experience. Maybe mention to the key worker, could they put dirty clothes straight into dd's bag, and provide a carrier bag in change bag. Tell them why you want them to do this. I would rather they sent home dirty wet clothes i can throw in the washer than not get clothing back but all parents are different. I'm sure if you point out you would like them to do this they should be fine with it.

i only ever dd2 in old play clothes when she was bursery at age 2.

now she doesnt need me to label anything except a school jumper as she doesnt get wet or need changing

If you want to make sure you get it back it should be labelled. Not everything of DS's is, but that means I forfeit the right to complain if it gets lost. A lot of parents don't remember exactly what clothes their DCs do and don't have and won't notice if they come home in someone else's, especially if the other parent got the DC ready in the morning.

You could sew name labels into the borrowed clothes just stitching at the short ends and then remove them before you return the items.

What are they doing with the clothes, eating them.....they shouldn't go missing that regulary...Have they put them in the spares box accidently or packed them with the wrong children....I'm sure they don't do it on purpose as their first priority is childcare of the kids. As long as your happy with this you shouldnt be that unhappy with them...all the best.

thanks everyone - your ideas are really helpful. i guess i know what i'll be doing tommorrow! seems a shame as she's only in each stage of clothes for such a short time -she's only 8 months. roll on being over a year so her clothes will last longer
