Beansprouts. A veg too far?

I'm planning on cooking a tofu and veg chow mein at nursery next week.

I'm dithering about including the bean sprouts. IME, our lot will often refuse a whole meal if they spot an offensive (ITO) veg included in it. They often don't subscribe to the 'leave the bits you don't like' philosophy.

So. t
To beansprout or not to beansprout?

How do yours do with them?

Our age range is one to four. The one and two year olds are not so picky but the pre-schoolers can be worse than a disgruntled food critic.

DS loves beansprout. But he's two. Whether he will when he's four is a different matter. Mind you, he's not much of a one for food all being mixed up, though he's getting better.

Sounds lovely. Put them in. But not too many and leave them crunchy. They can always pick them out again.

I think you're right, Hathor. Crunchy will be better and more easily pick-outable.

Your nursery sounds fab Bubble99...fresh cooking from scratch. A rare occurence these days in nurseries I would say.

With the older children, could you have the beansprouts as an option, so when the children server their own food (are you a nursery that does that?), they can decide if they wish to take beansprouts or not.
