Nursery School - help please

Can anyone help with this. We've been offered a place for my just 3 year old at a nursery school. The school only does morning sessions or full day sessions, 5 days a week.

He is currently in a private nursery 3 days while I work, and the other 2 days he's at home with me. I would like to keep him with me for those days because I enjoy it, and also because I don't want him to be in full-time childcare yet (He'd probably love it so I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it obviously , that's just my preference.)

Does anyone know of any circumstances, or workrounds, where he could attend the state nursery school but for only 3 days. It seems so bonkers that you HAVE to have them in the whole time. A bit all or nothing!

Me working mornings isn't an option unfortunately.

I have not heard of schools offering full day nursery sessions. I am afraid they will have a take it or leave it approach. Can he do half days and you can use wrap around nursery or childminder.

Thanks chaos. Yeah we could do that. My only worry is that he would feel unsettled by moving between the nursery school and then the follow on childcare. Also we'd still have the problem of not being able to have him at home for 2 days a week.

I suspect it's just not possible which is a real shame. All his friends are going to the nursery school and I feel like I'm holding him back a bit. I'm just not ready to forgo those days with him yet!

Cant you use the funding at the private nursery.. My dc used to do 3 days a week rather the mornings or afternoon until they were. I used to work 3 days so made life a lot easier.

If you at DP both work you should qualify for 30 free hours at the private day nursery

I had the same issue and decided to put ds in a private nursery 2 long days rather than 5 mornings + childminder on the days i work. I also love having full days together and didnt want the stress of getting out on time 5 days a week until we have to. Annoying that they wont do part time. Also school holidays to think of

Thanks everyone. Yes think we will have to end up keeping him at the private nursery. It's just that All his friends and peers are moving next door to the state nursery school and I'm worried I'm holding him back a bit in terms of peer relationships.
