PFB at Nursery

Just picked ds of nearly 6 mnths up from nursery where he will be attending part time after Easter. Went in and he wasn't the slightest bit bothered when he saw me, in fact he looked at me and continued playing with baby gym. Not even a sight smile.

I am pleased that he obviuosly is happy but feel upset as well... Is it precious first born syndrome. Is this normal???

TIA

Absolutely normal. Nothing to do with PFB either, it feels the same with subsewuent children too

Yes - definitely normal. You're torn between being happy that they're confident enough to be happy at being away from you, and devastated that they haven't apparently missed you.

It's always disappointing when you are no longer the centre of their world - he's growing up already!

weird isn't it?! i was all prepared for dd crying her heart out when i left her. but nothing. she is now crawling as of this week, so she's taken to following me everywhere, i expect next week at nursery she'll be more whingy.

Twiglett · 30/03/2007 12:05

6 months old are basically cute ameobas though

LEMONADEGIRL · 30/03/2007 12:06

Awful isn't it, just know I'll be tearful on first day..

Thanks for reassurance, that its normal.... I guess will just have to get used to it.

the worst bit is picking them up and you want them to be delighted to see you but they aren't really. they look at you then keep on playing. nice.

SoupDreggon · 30/03/2007 12:16

DS2 went one better. I had to carry him kicking and screaming out of nursery at the end of the day. Lovely

LEMONADEGIRL · 30/03/2007 12:16

thanks, ENTP must say that idea of him growing up to soon is a bit worrying.

Bizzy - not a tear in sight - typical

Twiglett - feel better now
