I received an email just after 5pm today, informing me of the intention to close my children's private day nursery, and giving me 4 weeks notice.
I had no inkling this was going to happen, although the wording of the email suggests that as parents we were already aware (spoken to other parents - it's definitely out of the blue for them as well).
I have 2 children, 4 and 21 months who attend. My 4 year old is on the pathway for a diagnosis of autism. We've been through 3 other childcare settings prior to this one. He has finally thrived here, and they are able to manage his behaviours effectively. He needs a small setting with individual rooms. Something other local settings don't have. We really struck lucky with this nursery.
We are supposed to have a team meeting with regards to the assessment of autism in the next 2/3 months! Now all the support and evidence won't be there!
I'm honestly gutted that this place is closing. There's no real reason given, other than future plans to expand the area the nursery is in. I suppose IABU really. These things happen. I just can't help feeling like yet again, my child will be let down by matters beyond my control.
As a single parent, with naff all financial support or emotional support, I really just need a good scream. Consider this my scream I guess.
Has anyone had this happen to their child's nursery? Did things turn out okay? Right now it feels like everything is going to shit! (Refused DLA, CSA fuck up for the millionth time, a&e visit, neighbour from hell = police involvement, now nursery closed - all in one week!!)
It's times like this I wish I drank!
