What to do about this?

Ds has just come out of nursery with two bite marks on his arm (red, look like they happened today). His key worker said they were minded to put it down as 'existing injury' as they hadn't heard him crying, so didn't think it had happened on their watch. I had a good look and said I was sure I would have noticed if he'd had them this morning. I was in a mad rush though. It's possible one of the dds did this last night, as there was a lot of squabbling going on at bedtime. Seems very unlikely I wouldn't have noticed though, as he would have been in tears. I've just taken some photos, just in case, and I'm not really sure what to do next. I've had a really intense day trying to sort out my divorce, and this has really thrown me. Part of me doesn't want to send him back.

Bump. Should I complain? Or would this be a bad idea considering there's a small chance this happened at home? They already seem to be fading

If you don't know for definite when they happened, and neither do the nursery, then I'm not sure what there is to complain about. I'd probably be ok with the nursery recording them as an existing injury and leaving it at that. Unless you have other concerns about the nursery that you haven't mentioned?

No I wouldn't complain. Kids bite.
What could they do? They didn't see it happen ds didn't cry.
Just keep an eye out for future bites. Talk to ds about telling an adult.

Could they have been self inflicted? Children tend not to cry when they do that.

Have you asked DS?

Can he not tell you how they happened?
Having 2 bite marks is very unusual. It would be a normal reaction to pull away from a biting child, not to offer your arm up for a second bits
Maybe they are self inflected. If you are going through a divorce, then it is a very strong possibility
