Would this be really weird?

DD will be starting nursery soon 3 days a week. She'll be 8 months old.

To help her settle in, I was considering asking the nursery for a picture of her key worker in advance to get her used to her.

Would the nursery think I'm really odd and more than a bit PFB?

The main reason I thought of it is that my sister lives quite far away and doesn't see DD in person very often so we have pictures of her. When she sees her in person, DD seems to recognise her and is comfortable spending time with her without me there.

So I thought it might work with the nursery as well to help her settle?

Please go easy on me - I'm new to all of his so if this would be a really weird thing to do then I'm prepared to hear that and not ask!

I think it's a bit over the top. You can do all that, then the key worker is off sick and not there anyway?

Some nurseries even do home visits before a child starts

My 9 month old PFB has been having his settling in sessions for the past 3 weeks, I'm back to work 3 days a week starting next Wednesday.

He has not settled in. He just cries when he's there and I hate it.

I'd think it was weird if the nursery hadn't done this before.

I was a room leader and would have found it a little weird; in advance of settling in etc.

I did have to make a book for 1 of my 1 year olds who only attended twice a week - but that didn't have mine or my colleagues face in.

I don't think it's weird, I think it's very sensible, and in the best interests of the child.

Nurseries usually have pictures of key workers on the wall anyway, so it would be no biggie to print one off.

I think this kind of thing would impress Ofsted. And to be honest, I would worry about a nursery that dismissed this suggestion out of hand. it's a great idea.

Before ds1 started reception, he was given a book with pictures of all the staff, and details of various routines. His school is excellent.

Not at all weird. We send home a book prior to starting with photos of the room staff, key person etc. I would be happy to as a nursery manager.

Not at all weird. I work at a nursery that does this as standard. Anything that might help her settle is useful.

Why would you turn the request down?

Privacy. I don't feel comfortable with my photos being distributed to all and sundry as part of my job.

I think it's a bit PFB, but if it makes you feel better go ahead and ask, but don't be offended if they say no, TiggyD is right and I'm sure many nursery staff would feel the same.

Before my ds started at nursery we had a home visit from the manager & his keyworker. They left a picture of the key worker with us.
So not weird at all op

I am a room leader and have had this request before, we were more than happy to comply :)

We have also had parents ask for photos of us with the children when they have left the room/nursery which have also done :)

I don't think it's weird and if it helps your lo all the better :)
