what's your nursery's policy on conjunctivitis?

ds has been excluded all week because of this. The new nursery policy is that he must be 48 hours clear of all symptoms (i.e. any discharge or redness) befoe he can return. I would be interested in what other nurseries do for comparisons sake. thanks

same at my nursery

we cant have children spreading contagious conditions to other children and staff.

otherwise the nursery would have to close due to staff shortages.

Ours do 'must have been on antibiotic drops for 48 hours' (or if you're not giving antibiotics then 'must have been clear of all symptoms for 48 hours'). We've kept DS off all week until he's definitely better when he has had conjunctivitis, though -- apart from anything else, it can be spread by a virus so that the antibiotic drops won't really stop him being infectious.

Think it was 48 hours clear of symptoms at DD's old nursery.

schools are similar

thanks, that is interesting. the old policy was that they had to have been on the drops for 48 hours but they have toughened up as they were not containing it. i was wondering if new policy was a bit OTT as so different from previously, but it would seem not.

seems reasonable. Same as with sickness and/or diarrhoa.
