Nursery PT for 2 yr old

My 18 mo is currently looked after by our wonderful nanny full time (5 days per week). However as wonderful as she is we are finding the costs horrendous as I'm basically working to pay for her. We didn't send our lo to nursery when I went back to work as felt she was too young at 6 months for a full 5 days per week. We are hoping to reduce costs after our child turns 2 by sending her to nursery part time (hope to keep our nanny for the remaining time). Can anyone advise what the best thing to do is? 5 mornings or 2 full days? My daughters happiness is obviously the most important thing so want to do whatever will help her settle to quickest and not tire her out.
Also has anyone had this conversation with their nanny, can I ask how it went and if you were able I keep them for the remaining days? ( I'm guessing 3 full days would be preferable for her rather than 5 afternoons working)

Thanks

Have you checked that it will actually be cheaper?

You'll find it by far easier to keep your nanny (or find a different nanny) if you offer her 3 full days on/2 full days off - that way she can find another job for the other 2 days.

I'd suggest you ask nanny to help with settling in at nursery and ask nursery if you can do it slowly ie an hour, then two, then 4 etc. - that way your dd can get used to nursery gradually and that way your nanny also has time to find work for the two nursery days?

Most nurseries will want full days rather than mornings only too. If you are considering a nursery school then bear in mind they only do 3 hour sessions and are shut in school hols so don't really work as childcare.

Your nanny might not want to stay on as part time
Have you considered that?

Best for my child though would be part days, as my dd used to get so tired at nursery all day. Best for your nanny will most likely be full days as others have said because it'll be hard to find another part time position so effectively it's a pay cut.

Insancerre- yes that is a worry for us, but I've had a look and there looks to be a few nanny's about right now who would do PT. So although we would prefer her to stay it wouldn't be a huge problem if she didn't.
