Our 18 month old twins do 3 long days at nursery (8-6.15). Nursery supply breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon snacks. until now we've been sending in a packed tea but we've just been told that as they are moving rooms this won't now be possible. The afternoon snack is just toast or pancake and I'm worried that if they don't eat at nursery they'll be really grumpy by the time we are home (About 6.45). What do other people do? Is it unreasonable to ask nursery to keep feeding them tea?

Surely your children aren't the only ones who stay til 6?
All the children I know who go to nurseries (several different ones) get given tea before being picked up.
They are very little to not be being fed til 7.
What time is snack time?

The majority of nurseries I have worked in serve a light tea

This is because a lot of parents like to sit and eat with their child of an evening as it's the only time they see them

Other parents don't have time due to work commitments etc

Nurseries kind of have to find a balance. Usual nursery teas to me are sandwiches, pasta salad, crumpets etc.

Although it would be ideal if those needing a full tea got a full tea and those needing just a snack got a snack I don't really know if it would work. The children would likely find it very confusing! Plus two lots of food is extra work for the staff
