Sleeping at nursery

I went to see a nursery yesterday, and really liked it, however, the sleeping area was just a bunch of mattresses (with sheets and blankets, and all v clean) on the floor.

Is this normal? It's the first nursery I've seen, so I've got nothing to compare it to.

Thanks

That's what they do with the older children at 'our' nursery too. Babies and tinies go in cots, when they get bigger they have sheets/blankets on a floor mattress.

Thanks... What would you expect for a 1 yo?

yes, totally normal
gots tend to take up too much room and mats on the floor are easier to put out and take up again
plus cots are normally only used for the smaller babies

I never thought DD would sleep on a floor mat with a load of other kids, but she did! Standard practice AFAIK Smile

That tends to be the norm for children over one. 12 cots in a room would take up most of the floor space.

Wonderful. Thanks all. Guess this might be the one we choose then. Phew.

Over one year old's, yes, normal.

Funnily enough one of DD's favourite 'games' is to put pillowcases on the floor, then lay toys on them, and cover them up with a muslin. She then pats them on the back to get them to go to sleep!
