Nursery worker retiring ... Gift?

Hello all. A lovely lady at my DD's nursery is retiring soon. She isn't my DD's key worker, but has been so good to my DD, and my impression is that she has played a massive part in helping my DD settle in.

To be honest I am so sad for DD that she is retiring, but I obviously wish her well, and would like to get her a gift and write her a wee thank you note to show her how much this has meant to me. I was thinking a John Lewis voucher, as I don't know her well enough to pick an actual gift. My question is, would this be appropriate given this lady is not DD's key worker? I do plan to get her key worker a gift as well when she moves rooms btw, which will be quite soon.

DD has been at this nursery for about 8 months.

I think it's perfectly appropriate to give this lady a gift. It's a lovely idea. I'd be delighted with any gift I was given and would treasure I little thank you card with some kind words! It's very kind of you to think of this and I'm sure she'd love a John Lewis voucher- who wouldn't hey!!

Yes, it is a lovely idea. I am sure she will appreciate it, especially the note.

Thanks all, I will definitely go ahead and do this. I never expected to feel such affection for this lady and the other people that look after DD, but they do such a wonderful job with her and when I see how happy she is, I am so grateful.
