What should a nursery do with a child's nosebleed?

My child was playing with other children at the nursery. Then he and another pumped into each other, which leads to my child's nosebleed.

The nursery asked me to bring the child home for the rest of the day.

Did they follow the correct procedure?

I assume he was tended to by a first aider, appropriate treatment given and you asked to sign an accident report?

Thank you. This is my first time to encounter something like this, so I want to make sure.

In my setting I would do all the above and ring parent to notify if significant nose bleed/bump or if I had concerns. Minor bumps we would wait until the end of the day and speak to the parent, keeping a special eye on the child.

Are you happy with what they did? I'm not clear (although that could be the sleep deprived baby sickness haze I'm in at the moment, thanks to my own little monster!)

If that is their procedure, then yes they did follow the correct procedure.
There is no set procedure to follow in the event of accidents at nurseries. It is up to each nursery to devise and write their own procedure to be followed in the event of a child having a bump on the head.
Some nurseries will insist the child is taken home, some will keep the child and inform the parents on pick-up. Some might pone the parents and ask them what they want to do.
The EYFS only states that "providers must keep a written record of injuries and first aid treatment and inform parents on the same day or as soon as reasonably practicable"

Depends how long the child bled for, if it was for less than 10 minutes then we would have kept the child at nursery any longer and we would be calling the parents!!
