Paying the notice period when removing DD for poor settling in sessions?

Hello, I'm new here, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of pulling their child out of nursery when their settling in period hasn't gone well, and what that means for notice period/fees? I've been asked to pay for September up front, I wrote a cheque for fees and it's not yet been cashed, and we've had our two settling in sessions and I've realised they're a bit pants although they were very highly recommended and have an outstanding rating, they just treat my very shy and sensitive dd like a number and keep going over their ratios, leaving her to sob without any comfort or cuddles... I want to switch to a childminder, but if I cancel my cheque to the nursery and pull DD out are they going to pursue me for fees? Its over £500 I'm supposed to be paying them, so it's not cheap!!
Any experience would be greatly appreciated!

If you accepted the place, you will need to pay, as most nurseries policies are a months notice, which is what they are charging you for.
