Are we too critical?

Dd, 14 months has just started nursery and attends 2 days a week, the nursery is flexible on which days which is fab as i work shifts.

Dd has so far done 3 days, after 4 settling in sessions. One last week and 2 this week. Last week dd was Fine being left but this week has not been great when dh and i, One day each dropped her off. I know she has to get used to it, but we dont want to traumatise her.

Any way thats not really the problem, when dh collected her One day this week her nappy was full and on both days she has been really hungry & thirsty when she got home. The staff say dd has her lunch and that she has had a drink. We take her home for tea. Dd eats well and we are concerned that the staff dont take time to ensure dd gets enough to eat and drink. Should we see how it goes or should we be concerned?

Tricky, but I think it's early day to be concerned, settling in can take a couple of weeks, possibly more if they aren't attending every day. The drink thing - well it was very hot last week, was LO in a hot car or out in the sun on the way home? if that happened every time I'd be worried, but if it's a one-off probably not.

The nappy thing, was it full of wee? you should be given a record of when it was changed throughout the day. If they've gone more than 3 hours (ideally 2) without changing her then that isn't great. If it was No.2 they should have offered to change her if it had just happened and was obvious.

Do you go to any local toddler groups? always good to get feedback on what other mums think of nurseries.
