hello. ive been a nursery nurse for 8 years now, just enjoying maternity leave. its difficult cause from experience they do put on quite a show when trying to bring new children in. just thought you may have already done your visit by now. but look for mainly how the staff are with the children including your little one when you are there, how the staff are with eachother, what they are like when they think you arent paying attention to them lol. how there toys are set out (is there enough out) just things like that. ask about the daily routine, and what activities are done throughout the day. bringing your bubba to a nursery for the first time is mostly difficult for the parents. so if you decide to go to settling ins which is when you gradually leave ur baby for longer time periods see how they comfort your little one but also how they support you. its very important. x hope it goes/went well x

Hi

Yes I have been but your info is very helpful. Wasn't convinced but the place is going through a refurb so might revisit when completed. Staff seemed quiet and not very interactive, didn't take any notice of my dd and the place was bit knackered and dirty, would have been quiet upset to have seen my dd there, even the babies looked sad Sad good to see a bad one for comparison through

oh that really upsets me. unfortunatly alot of nurseries can be like that. in most of my nurseries i was one of the only ones that played with the children and you can tell as they formed a bond with me, another thing to look out for if the children go to the staff themselves. im not sure if theres one in your area but active learning are egood although pricey. do ballet, yoga, sports etc x i really hope you can find a loving setting for your dd xxx

DS's nursery is lovely, and that shone through on our visits.

Worth checking the OFSTED report before you go so that id there were any areas marked for improvement you can ask about them.

Might be worth considering a CM as well perhaps? We found our excellent CM from www.childcare.co.uk
(DS goes to a nursery and also a CM for reasons I won't bore you with!)
