Is there really only one day nursery in Epping, Essex?

Hi all, this is my first time posting on here and a bit nervous being a soon-to-be Dad on "Mums"net. Sorry but this site is fantastic and I have gained a huge amount of help on lots of topics on here, and there is no male alternative so here goes!

We live in Epping, Essex and will need a day nursery for our child after around 12 months. Is there anyone else in the area who can advise or give opinions on day nurseries? Is Kids Unlimited really the only option in the town? I know there is one called Little Flyers in Thornwood and a couple of others in North Weald - does anyone have any experience of them at all? I've heard some bad stories about Kids Unlimited as a chain but can find no feedback on the Epping branch specifically other than complaining about contract terms (when what I actually want to know is what the care is like).

Thanks for reading.

I don't live in Epping and I can't really answer your questions about what's in the area but try a google search. My DH is a chef for KU, in fact the Epping one falls under his management remit. DD starts nursery at KU in 2 weeks time and I have known many people to send their children to KU nurseries and I can't tell you enough wonderful things about them. All the menus are nutrionally analysed so that they meet the childrens daily requirements. The lengths they go to to make sure that they help children with their developments and the staff take such an interest with the children. The staff aren't paid top dollar (but then I don't know what other nurseries pay), I know staff expenses take a long time at getting paid back, they're slow with staff paperwork but as someone who has recently joined as a parent the parenting side of things seems to be brilliant, which is what friends have said too. One friend has sent all three of her children there over the years. I'm not trying to sell them to you but don't be put off by what other people say. Take it on board but make your own mind up by going to see them.

Local authorities have a list of childcare providers so call EFDC

I think there is only one nursery based on the St Margaret's hospital site

I suggest you go and visit and make your mind up - also if it is the only nursery and you do like it you will want to get on the waiting list as soon as poss
