Any suggestions on how to get DD to sleep longer at nursrry?

Today she had 20minutes!!! At home she usually has at least 1hr1/2 if not more over 1 or 2 naps. She's only had 5 sessions at nursery (2 per week) so it's early days. She has had longer naps there but never more than an hour. I gave them a blanket to swaddle her in as she still likes this even though she's 13months but it doesn't seem to help.
Will she start to sleep more, the more she settles in?
Any advice?

At 5 sessions it is normal for a child to reduce her amount of sleep, the Nursery environment is new to her, and so it probability takes her longer to go to sleep, and also when she stirs, she wakes in a strange environment and so is less likely to drift back off to sleep.

Check the basics with her key person, like does she normally have her sleep just after a bottle / food at home, and is this the same in the Nursery. Sometimes, Nurseries have an earlier lunch than parents normally have at home, and so if you have asked that she goes down for a sleep after lunch, check that the time of this is right.

Apart from that, it can take some children a number of weeks, to fully settle into a good routine within the setting.

You could look at bringing in teddies from home but this can sometimes be more of a distraction than a help.

My DD has been at nursery since 13 months and is now 20 months. When she started nursery she was having a 2 hour nap at home (which is now up to 2.5 hours at home). Well, goes to nursery 3 days a week. I can count on one hand the number of times her nap has exceeded 1.5 hours. I just think she find its too exciting - I can also imagine that she is probably a bit disturbed by the other noise of other children wakening etc once she is asleep. Many days it is less than an hour she sleeps. But, she has adapted. We get her to bed sharp on nursery days and she has nice long naps on a Th/Fr to make up for it I think.

I would say that it is still early days and she should sleep for longer when she is more used to being in the nursery environment.
Is the nursery following her routine and putting her down for sleep when she is used to it at home?

Yes, the nuresry seem very good at trying to get her to sleep. When she doesn't sleep she just gives the nursery nurses lots of cuddles so at least she's relaxing a bit.
