His birthday is on the day school term starts so.......Will DS be entitled to free early years education?
Any ideas or advice. We are currently paying for 15 hours a week.

MY DS has a very similar birthday, and no, he didn't get free early years that summer term, as they calculate it from the end of March (I think). So, had his birthday been 29th March he would have had funding. The annoying thing was that Easter was really late that year, so he was 3 before the Easter holidays.

SadAngryFlippin'eck!!
I have a gut feelin we won't get it.
I have just emailed the nursery requesting they consider him. Will have to wait and see.
Having said that, Confused DS is at a private nursery so what term times do they go by as they are open 50 weeks a year or theraboutsHmm

No, it's term AFTER birthday.
In my NCT group only one got funding summer term bd 31 march

Rest all had Bd's in school hols that year, none of us got funding. All earlier than 16 April.

So jolly bad luck this year for you.

Btw you posted in further education not preschool Grin Grin

No the cut off is beginning of April for Summer term so he'll get it in Autumn.

tootssweet · 04/01/2012 18:36

Sorry but don't think he will. The funding for his place will come from your local authority & I know that for ours the 3 cut-off dates are for those for on or after 1st January, 1st April & 1st september. You would have to wait for the first full term after he turns 3. Hope that makes sense! We were really lucky as dc1 born 30 march but dc2 is early April so will have to pay for longer Sad

Sorry x-post but forgot to add dc1 was also in private nursery

Doesn't matter whether he's in private nursery or not - its the local authority that set the term dates, not the nursery.

I agree that he'll get it from September.

oinker · 11/01/2012 16:01

It's September.... Never mind. Hopefully I'll get him into one of the pre schools we are looking at so won't have to worry about nursery.

Thanks
