Age and ratios (am I being silly?)

I'm hoping to start DD (22/23 months) in nursery next week, just one day per week. She is currently with a childminder, but this wasn't working out.

The nursery has a room for babies (under 2) and another for 2-3 year olds. I understand that the under 2s need a ratio of 1-3. over 2s have a ratio of 1-4.

DD will be four weeks off being 2 when she starts. I want her to start then, as her new baby sibling will be coming along three weeks later, so I want her settled before the baby arrives.

The thing is, she won't be settled if she's in one room with one set of staff and children, then when she turns 2, has to move room. This will also coincide with the baby's arrival.

Would it be possible for the nursery to have her straight in the over 2s room? I imagine not, as it will go against the ratio... What should I do? If perhaps there's a day when they have less children ('m entirely flexible, not working), would she be able to do so then?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks. :)

at the nursery where my children are, in such situation they settle in the toddler room and if he/she is ready they move them to the next room.
they also never move one child on his/her own, but with another one that is similar in the development.

Ask them in the way you have explained here, they may be able to work something out, they will want her to settle too. They may have more than your dd turning 2 at around the same time so can move their room together. They won't be able to put her into a 1:4 ratio until her birthday but I'm sure they will have ways to do it.

Thank you both. :) I'll speak to them later when we go and visit, I just wanted to get it straight in my head what I was asking for first!

No good nursery would start a child in one room then move then after 4 sessions. Ofsted wouldn't like it much either as continuity of care is very important. The bigger room is unlikely to be staffs at the minimum level so they will probably be fine with one child on a 1:3 ratio.

Thanks, all sorted, it is as Tiggy said. Not at max ratio in toddler room, so all fine. Thank you. :)
