Would you say it was important for a child to attend the pre-school that is the feeder school into the primary school that they will eventually attend? In other words, is it important that they are with the children who will also be going to the same school?

It's an individual thing I guess. I moved my DD into one of the pre-schools that feeds her primary school. The transition was so easy, but then she's a fairly confident child thank god, so maybe it would've been easy anyway?

The children in my ds1's class came from at least 3 different pre-schools. They all seem to have made friends with 'new' children fairly easily.

thanks - trouble is my dd isnt particularly confident and takes a while to settle in. I enroled her at a fairly local preschool last week but i have misgivings about it (its old building, basic equipment, lady shouts rather than talks etc). There is a very good group a few miles away but most of the children there wont go to the shcool that DD will go to. I dont know what to do for the best.

Mandymoo - why don't you speak to the school - they will probably be able to reassure you as they have some fantastic ways of easing little ones in.

My DD visited her school about 6 times before she started. The shouty lady at the local pre-school doesn't sound worth it to me.

And this week they spelt dd's name wrong!!! Its a very easy name and now its put me off even more!
