Nursery potty training ideas needed!

Hi there,

I am a mum who is also on the nursery committee and an issue has been raised about children who are 'dry' at home but are wetting themselves sometimes 5 times a day.

The problem seems to be that some are too shy to ask, or some can't find`someone to tell in time before weeing. This is causing a few upset parents as they can't understand why the child is wetting himself when they are fine at home.

My daughter isn't yet old enough for potty training so i thought i would ask on here for a few ideas for a better method of getting a child to tell you when they need a wee. They already use wall charts etc but I would love to hear your ideas...

In my ds's creche they have tiny toilets and all the children are systematically put on the toilet are regular times during the day.

I work with rising threes and sometimes feel that I spend all day in the toilet.
We have regular toileting times throughout the day, as part of the routine.
They are at about 10.30, just before lunch,at about 2.30 and just before afternoon snack.
The adults also need to be aware of the signs that a child needs to go, such as jiggling and holding themselves. It really should be the adults taking the initiative in this, not the children. Although, some accidents are normal, as children get involved in what they are doing or play in water (boys especially always seem to wee when playing in the water tray)
