9mo 1 day a week. Nursery or childminder?

Going round in circles here!

Hopefully starting a course in March, only one day a week for about 10 weeks.

I've viewed a nursery. Not entirely happy with it but I'm not sure why.

I'll be viewing a preschool with baby room attached later, it's on the site of my course which is a plus.

But I'm worried that as it's only 1 day a week, DD will forget she's been by the time her next session comes about and is going to think I'm abandoning her with strangers each week. Would a child minder be better? After the course I'll be working either 2 mornings or 2 afternoons per week.

If you were coming to me I would agree to have her only if you popped in for a cuppa in between times

2 mornings or 2 afternoons works so much better

Wherever you send her, they'll be strangers to start with, then she'll get to know them and they won't be anymore.

My DD will be going to nursery one day a week from March (she'll be 9mo too). She currently does one day a week at my Nan's and one day at MIL's. She knows them fine, even though she'd never been alone with them until I went back to work at the beginning of the month.

I had thought about leaving her with my Nan or MIL for an extra day from March, but I like the idea of her spending time with more children/babies her own age, rather than just one-to-one time with people who love her more than most other things in the whole world. I think it will be good for her to learn a little independence before she's too old to object too much. Hopefully this way, it will just be normal when I go back to work full time later this year.

Saying that, I am absolutely over the moon with the nursery she'll be going to. I have no doubts at all that it will be a great place for her to spend a day a week. If you have doubts, could you look at other nurseries? Definitely check out a child minder for comparison too. At the end of the day, you know your daughter best and you can only choose the option that's best for you both.

HTH. Sorry for essay Blush

Thanks guys.

2 mornings would suit me more but until I've done the courses I'm stuck with one full day.

We live in the 'sticks', childcare is really limited only 2 settings take babies. If she was older she'd be going to the lovely preschool my other two went to, they don't take them until 2 in there though.
