Ofsted reports- am I just being a bit thick?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could explain something to me as I suspect I'm just being a bit dim. Am currently looking at nurseries in our local area and have been checking them out on the Ofsted website. However, I can only seem to see reports for 2009. How accurate are these? I know they are done every year so why can't I see the recent ones? Also, how much would you trust a report that was nearly 2 years out of date?
Sorry to go on a bit but am really stressed that am going to put my gorgeous 8 month old in a poor nursery.
Any advice would be appreciated. : )

they aren't done every year, it will show you the most up to date one :)

Hi there

just my own personal opinion- but i wouldnt be too fussed with the ofsted reports - always check how long the actual inspection lasted for - if it was only for a few hours on one day then i would take what the report says with a pinch of salt.

Best going with your gut feeling and speaking to other parents who have children at the nursery, and having a good thorough look around on various different days/times

good luck

Remember that the Ofsted inspector hardly spends any time at all looking at actual practice. they concentrate on the paperwork and spend most of their time in the office, looking at 'evidence'.
Things to look for when reading reports:-
has the nursery had any complaints made to ofsted, and have they been upheld
does the inspector make any recommendations in the report and what is the time scale for the implementation of said recommendations
remember that the report only gives a snapshot of one day and things can change for the better or worse very quickly

Best way to find a good nursery is by word of mouth.

I would forget them, a lot is done on paperwork these days. Go and visit and use gut feeling.

Thanks for all the replies. I know I should just go with my gut instinct but worried it wont be working right (it's my first little one, so paranoid am going to make a poor decision).

Use them as a guide but if they have just had one they won't have another for 3 yrs.
