Hi
My child's nursery has a bug going around and it appears they are stood at the main door this morming to turn anyone away who has had D or V over weekend.

I think it must be norovirus for them to be this proactive.

Anyone else had this happen?

My child is ok so has gone in- but I do wonder how long til we all get it...

If your child has D&V, then they need to be clear for 48 hours before going back to school/nursery. Parents rarely stick to this rule, so I understand why the nursery is being so strict.

It's not necessarily norovirus.

totally normal, whether or not it's norovirus. at our local ones all D&V means the kids stay off for 48hrs.

It was just the fact that they were frisking parents at the door. Seems extreme! Maybe most parents try it on!

I really hope they stick to the rules and dont let people back for 48hrs.

Even if they were stopping people at the door how could they be sure that parent's were being honest with them!!
My daughters nursery has the same rule about 48hrs after D&V but I cann't see them quizzing people on the way in!!!!

GiraffeYoga · 20/09/2010 12:25

they cant be sure but I'd like to think that a parent faced with a "bouncer" on a door of a nursery due to an bug will take that as seriously at the nursery does be less likely to lie about bugs.

But then a lot of the parents seem a bit lax in their attititude to bugs- assume its the same everywhere

Its not norovirus. Its a waterborne parasitic infection. Environmental health have been advising them.

Im very impressed at how its being handled!

Still, really dont want to leave my child there :-S but dont have a choice this week.

I hope your child doesn't catch it!
