I do love mumsnet but I also find there's alot of negativity. We only really hear about the bad parts and dramas. So I would love to know what's going well for you!

Today I picked up a table from free cycle that is just perfect and spent ages chatting to the lady while we dismantled it about her life and she was just so inspiring. She has three disabled kids and was obviously an amazing mum.

I also picked out my wedding dress and I have never felt so pretty in it in my life.

I realised I live in the catchment area for the best primary school in my city which was an accident and we would like to TTC very soon.

This week I booked a pre conception appointment with my GP and I am so excited for it.

My three year old nephew who I don't get to see often, specifically said he wants to go swimming with me and it melted my heart.

What has gone will for you recently?

I took my grandson swimming yesterday, he’s 18 months old and he loved it. He must have been here before, because he seemed to know how to swim instinctively. Such a great life affirming experience seeing him shriek with joy at being in the water

I went paddleboarding today, I got a fisherman his lure back, some kids their rugby ball that had got in the water, let the fisherman in to use the loo at the boathouse. I felt like the smartest giant in town. I also fell in a couple of times trying fancy stuff.

Was in work today and a little girl was dancing around the person with the trolley behind her family and she started pointing out everything and naming it. The guy (30s and very upright sort), was just in absolute shock/ bemusement and as she tried to get past him they did the shuffle thing where both kept going the wrong way. I nearly choked trying not to laugh!!

these all made my day brighter, thank you!

My boyfriend died about 18 months ago, and I've now been seeing someone new for a couple of months and I really like him. Telling people and seeing them be so pleased and happy for me has been surprisingly lovely 😊

Lovely husband
Lovely home
Two fab grown up children, one married, one getting, one weeks old gd.
Have loved my job, retiring soon.
Today DH and I went shopping (shoes for him) and had lunch.

Say it too much on here and accusations of "smug" appear.

We did a day trip yesterday (about an hour away) to a town I'd never been in before. Went to a gorgeous artisan bakery, a chocolate shop, a couple of really good charity shops and had a lovely time chatting to a lady who owns a little gift shop. Then brought the dog for a walk to an old estate with a Lutyens-designed garden and follies. Had a really nice dinner on the way home too.

DH and I went to our local bowls club for a taster session and it turns out I'm a natural! Yes we will be going back and maybe join. Followed by a delicious family lunch courtesy of SIL and BIL. DH and I (both middle aged) had a water fight with super soakers much to the amusement of the under fives. It's been a lovely day.

We're going to have a baby in the family, first one for 29 years, so looking forward to just after Christmas when he/she will arrive. Am hoping for a New Year's Day baby arrival, that would be a lovely start to 2027.

It was ectopic pregnancy awareness yesterday, and I am so thankful that my ruptured ectopic pregnancy did not kill me.

i also look at my daughter, that we tried so hard to have, thriving.

Been helping to look after my friend’s children as I usually do during the school holidays and we’ve had the best time. At 10 and 7 they are finally playing really nicely together (most of the time!) and we have had some great outings to places I’d never go normally. Although I’m sick of the heat here in the South East it has meant we can have picnics and stay out all day. I’m loving it.

I live in a very pretty place (clue in my username) and even though we’ve been here years now, the beauty of it really catches my breath some days. Seeing our kids happy here with all the nice things on our doorstep makes my heart sing. We made this life, I’m proud of it 🙂

Jeromeinaboat · 02/08/2026 21:59

Slightly less wholesome but I managed to wax my own underarms today AND a new cake recipe worked well. And my dog behaved well on his walk and didn’t get stressed (he’s reactive as he’s been attacked but today was ok). Oh and I’ve got a glass of wine now

I've been working away from home. Got back to a bunch of my favourite flowers on the kitchen table from DH. We got dirt cheap theatre tickets to a show we thought might be quite good and it turned out to be brilliant, then next day we went for a gorgeous walk in the park and to a small art exhibition that was also way better than we expected.

Also had morning tea and evening glasses of wine out in the garden on the swing, and pottered around, deadheading and admiring plants coming up. And our rescue cat who is a bit of a street boy came and snuggled and purred in bed for an hour this morning before I had to go back to work. Best weekend in ages. I felt so restored.

I also picked out my wedding dress and I have never felt so pretty in it in my life.

That is so beautiful for you, OP! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

sphagets · 03/08/2026 14:08

@WineCharm thank you I am so excited!

I’m moving in to my dream apartment this week. The packers came today and seeing everything boxed up ready to go is very satisfying.

HeadCreature · 03/08/2026 14:28

I’m on holiday but had to go into work this morning.
When I got home DH had hoovered and cleaned, changed the bedding and then he made me lunch.

My SEN girls who bicker and fight 50% of the time (specifically bought a house with enough space to separate them) have been getting on surprisingly well on our holiday in Wales. A few spats when wet and hungry but sweetly playing together too.
