Will morning sickness ruin my wedding if I am 7 weeks pregnant?

due to be 7-8 weeks pregnant on wedding day.

Worried about morning sickness. What are the chances I will get it? Did anti sickness tablets work for you? Is there anything else I can do to reduce?

To make it worse were having a family day before and after because family are flying in from Australia so it will be three intense days in a row!

Were you secretly pregnant on your wedding day? Were you able to enjoy your day?

It just depends on your pregnancy and they are different.

with my first I would have been ok, I felt nauseous in the morning but as soon as I had eaten something I was fine, however with my second, I was actually sick and felt ill all day.

bunnypenny · 23/07/2026 09:23

I was 9 weeks pregnant at my wedding and had awful nausea. I had anti-nausea meds which usually helped but completely forgot to take them on the day. I threw up at the venue and also couldn’t eat. I was also absolutely exhausted.

so yes medication can help - but just remember to take the tablets!!

also consider whether you will tell anyone. I didnt tell anyone other than my mum and husband and with hindsight I should have told my bridesmaids as that would have helped.

Peonies12 · 23/07/2026 09:39

I didn't leave the house most of my first trimester.. nausea and just the purest exhaustion you couldn't imagine. There's no way to predict and you can't do anything about it. I assume you have found out about your pregnancy very recently so you're ~4 weeks now? You could ask pharmacist or GP about anti nausea medication just in case. And this is only because I've been through it, and very kindly, many pregnancies don't progress so be prepared for that in the next month.

BuffaloCauliflower · 23/07/2026 09:42

Wasn’t sick at all in either pregnancy. With my first I felt hungover in the afternoons around week 5-7 and went off food for week 8, can’t remember second pregnancy at all. How was your mum in pregnancy? There seems to be a strong correlation between women’s experience and their mums

ExhaustedRaccoon · 23/07/2026 09:42

I just got really bad nausea, normally in the afternoon. I got some anti-sickness Cyclizine from my GP and they worked fine although they did make me a bit sleepy!

boohoo26 · 23/07/2026 09:42

You might get away with it at seven weeks. It really kicks in between week eight and nine if it’s going to be my experience.

hedgingbettings · 23/07/2026 09:43

mums was no problem but sister had morning sickness

I had HG and was hospitalised quite a bit, never been so thin as when I was pregnant BUT it so quite rare. Most of my friends were tired and perhaps slightly nauseous at that point. Fingers crossed all goes well for you.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 23/07/2026 09:50

I’d have been miserable but managed. A friend of mine literally wouldn’t have been able to be there. Two of my friends didn’t notice any symptoms at all so would have been totally fine.

If you end up needing anti sickness medication, take it for a few days before the wedding. It knocked me out when I first took it, but the drowsiness wore off.

Hopefully you won’t need it though!!

Iloveeverycat · 23/07/2026 09:50

3 pregnancies no sickness at all. Only slight nausea with one as I was having twins. Ginger biscuits were my go to.

nc42day · 23/07/2026 09:53

I was about 10 weeks and absolutely sick as a parrot, really late starting the ceremony because I was outside throwing up, threw up and retched all day at the various smells of perfume, food, champagne, flowers, it was a shit show I will not lie. I was absolutely rung out, on my hands and knees in the bathroom hugging the toilet in the hotel at midnight. The very thought of my wedding day now makes me feel sick, and I'm not sure whether it's the wedding of the actual nausea I'm remembering.

Not helpful, but honest, however I didn't have medication and would definitely recommend trying if that seems like an option and you feel ropey.

Rothburypixie · 23/07/2026 10:00

There’s no way to tell tbh! Maybe see how you are the weeks before and get some nausea tabs from the GP just incase.

With my first I was fine no sickness apart from the odd few days with my second I was sick all the way through till the end.

Hoping you sail through and have a wonderful wedding day!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/07/2026 10:01

I was actually only physically sick about 3 times. All after drinking coffee. But felt sick all the time. There’s no way of knowing how you’ll be but what helped me was those tuc cheese crackers. I ate loads of them. Hope you have a lovely wedding day.

MeridaBrave · 23/07/2026 10:02

Nothing much you can do about it now. In one pregnancy I was fine with no symptoms in another I felt dreadful.

mochimoons · 23/07/2026 10:12

I wasn't sick at all but I was extremely tired and couldn't make it through the day without napping.

I would make sure you plan some down time throughout the day so you can have a rest.

Plenty of people feel totally normal at that stage of pregnancy though so you might be lucky! And the excitement of the day will get you through it.

My boobs also doubled in size already by that point and were super painful so maybe need to consider that with your dress - but again you might not experience that as not everyone does!

RominaDina · 23/07/2026 10:20

When is the wedding?

RominaDina · 23/07/2026 10:22

Every woman's pregnancy is different, so it's difficult to advise. I had terrible sickness at that point. For one week it was constant, and at one point all I could keep down was water. I was exhausted. By about 14 weeks it stopped and thereafter I had quite an easy pregnancy.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 23/07/2026 11:20

never threw up op!

I managed to work and everything every day with a 3 year old along with me on the commute

but I felt shattered all the time - there were some days i literally couldn’t get up though at the weekend as I’d overdone it in the week

saying that I did manage to go out clubbing all day twice around 7 / 8 weeks so somehow powered through

if you don’t have severe sickness - hopefully if you just make sure you get plenty of rest in the lead up - hopefully you will have a great day :)

Everything crossed for you xx

luckylavender · 23/07/2026 12:37

Only one pregnancy but didn't get it at all

Katiesaidthat · 23/07/2026 12:41

I had zero sickness of any type. You won´t know till the time comes. My neighbour was hospitalised with sickness, but that is uber rare. We are all different and each pregnancy is different.

hellospring26 · 23/07/2026 13:15

I was only sick first thing but really couldn’t eat all day. It would not have been fun for me but you have no way of knowing how it will affect you, you could be hospitalised with hyperemesis or have nothing at all.

TheBluebird · 23/07/2026 13:19

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/07/2026 22:58

At 7 weeks I could barely stand up without being sick and was overwhelmed with nausea for all my (limited) waking hours and was hospitalised with hyperemisis. Anti sickness drugs were useless.

This happened in both pregnancies, but I understand that only around 2% of women are affected.

Good luck with your pregnancy and wedding x

I was the same. 39 weeks of vomiting.
It's uncommon to be that sick though.
The more likely thing is the fatigue which I think affects most women. Try to build in some breaks when you can have a lie down.

NoName47 · 23/07/2026 13:24

I had it from about weeks 6-16. I felt awful all day, every day. I wasn't throwing up all the time but didn't eat a lot and honestly hated feeling nauseous and none of the tablets helped. I actually has a friends wedding that I just had to cancel a couple of days before as the thought of even getting dressed and drying my hair was too much! It never even occurred to me that I would get it, I had booked a holiday for when I was around 12 weeks that I had to cancel. I hope you will be lucky and not get it but it is a possibility.

Everydayisdolmioday · 23/07/2026 13:34

It depends on a lot of things. Are you happy to make the best of things for your wedding day or is it important to you to have everything "perfect"? I went on holiday at 7 weeks pregnant with dc2 and it was fine. I did throw up a few times a day and I gave the cable car thing a miss but it was OK. Dc1 I was sick a lot more but I would have been OK to get married with a few adaptations eg not having a huge dress that made it impossible to fit into a toilet cubicle, having a constant supply of fruit pastilles and iced water etc.

hedgingbettings · 23/07/2026 13:56

my dress is huge. But it is also adaptable draw string
