Aaargh! Bose QuietComfort Headphones

I've inherited some Bose QuietComfort headphones, but cannot get them to work properly. They won't pair with my phone or my laptop, and the app doesn't recognise them either. I'm assured that they are fully functional, and they will play music directly from my phone, but I don't understand why they're not doing anything the instructions I'm finding online suggest they ought to be doing.

Help!

Mine pair by me sliding the button to to the on position and holding it there while I enable Bluetooth in settings on my phone and as soon as it finds Bose in the list of devices I tap that and headphones give three ascending beeps and that’s it done.

What do you mean by "enable" Bluetooth settings? I tried sliding the button, but none of my devices found the headphones.

My Bose headphones need me to download the Bose app to pair them with a new device. Have you tried that?

Yep. That's how I know the app couldn't find them either...

I found this v useful when one Bose earbud refused to charge in the case.

I used mine with devices that don’t have the Bose app on. Like my tv and my Nintendo switch. The boss app simplifies it but you can pair manually via the blue tooth setting in your phone.

Go into your phones settings and make sure blue tooth is turned on and that your phone is discoverable. You phone will start looking for devices nearby that it can pair to. Pop the headphones on your head and slide the button on your headphones and keep it held there until til you hear the voice that says something like “ready to connect” or “ready to pair” then look at you phones Bluetooth setting screen and the headphones should appear there on a list of available devices, tap on it and it should connect that way.

The Bose app lets you adjust the noise cancelling settings and other settings on the headphones and it can make pairing a one click thing but it’s not essential.

Have you tried connecting them to your phone or a device with the aux cable to make sure they work?

Apparently the reason I can't get them to work properly is that they're faulty. I spoke to someone at Bose and after concluding they weren't behaving as they should he offered to send me a replacement.
