Help overwhelmed with my neighbours

I live in a small village , a couple of doors down the road people there are a bit random with trailers old lorries etc dumped in and around their garden, et cetera et cetera no problem their space their rules .
( I was born and raised in the countryside btw)
in my day someone with a shot gun would have sorted this before it was a problem!
. Nb without killing anything.( nb not the messy neighbours 🤣)
however
here we are
The neighbours trees are now completely overwhelmed with rooks
I thought when the rooks arrived ,
if I were said neighbours I’d be deterring the rooks from making their home in my garden,
roll on 3/4 years they’re really happy with it.
The neighbours now have a huge rookery in their garden.
the noise and mess is horrible. Its so overcrowded! even the bloody Rooks Can’t stand it it
so they are looking to make a move to a less overcrowded area and now spending time checking out my trees !
New and very worrying behaviour! Hanging out in my trees in the evenings . Yes, I get that is the countryside.
It’s their world but oh my goodness ,you need to live beside these feathered buggers to understand the
completely overwhelming noise that they make
I have now taken to standing in my garden beating a saucepan with a wooden spoon,
and clapping my hands loudly, ( probably not helping my rep in the village)

it’s like the Covid thing, but all by yourself .
actually, my question
is does this.
Have any impact ,on the rooks decision as to whether they will make their new home in my garden .
ie I cannot live in saucepan banging clapping hands place .
If this is not the message, I am conveying to the noisy blighters .
I am I wasting my precious time .
Is it time to call the estate agent?
before I am overrun.
I don’t understand why Rooks live close to people, ffs
There are masses of trees in the fields around our village.
Why don’t they they move in there?
Don’t get me wrong. I really like rooks smart birds etc . They are fascinating intelligent creatures.
But are not much fun to live with at close quarters
all helpful advice appreciated

Surely the best people to give advice, is like someone from the rspb or whatever they are called? I would be calling an expert to find out a way to deter them without harming them.

You need to get yourself a hawk kite.

I totally appreciate why rooks, whilst amazing, are not desirable garden birds like goldfinches or tits. There is a colony of jackdaws which use properties on either side of mine...

Can you festoon your garden with pie plates and other moving, flashing, shiny objects so that the rooks do not colonise your trees? Can you take down or trim your trees? Can you set up windchimes (you might need earplugs) ? Will these deter the rooks?
Also, can you install upward spikes (pigeon strips?) on flat surfaces in your garden so that the rooks can't use your area?

@WildGarden has a good suggestion: a hawk kite or a few 'owls' or similar?
