Would you go to a festival 33 weeks pregnant?

So I’ve booked a festival in the lake district it’s a Thursday - Monday (obviously booked it when I was pregnant)

I have two children 5&8 we have been quite a few times, it’s camping too.

I feel like I shouldn’t be going however feel bad as going with a few other families one of which has kids similar age to mine so feel bad letting them down!

I have just got to the 12 week point scan next week.

has anyone been to a festival pregnant did you enjoy? Obviously it is a family friendly festival so it’s not mental.

what would you do? I would obviously have to be sober too hahaha

My husband and friends went camping when I was 32 weeks. I was invited (usually love camping!!) and stayed at home bc I couldn’t bear the thought of getting up and down off the floor. Plus all the weeing at night

unsureforevermore · 07/03/2026 06:37

I know!! That’s another issue isn’t it ! We love camping and have a camper van too but I’m thinking realistically will I just be miserable especially when there will be no wine involved !

Could you just see how you’re feeling the week before and decide then?
Is your partner/husband coming too? I wouldn’t want to be in charge of two kids and deal with all the set up at 33 weeks pregnant but being able to lean on the other parent and know that they’ll be able to go whether or not I decided I was up to it when the time comes around would work for me.

BuffaloCauliflower · 07/03/2026 06:42

I personally wouldn’t, though I know people who would. It’s not just the camping bit, it’s the walking around the festival, lack of proper seating, managing children through all this. A camping trip where you’re just chilling would be a different situation as well.

I did think that but I would need to sell the tickets as paid quite a bit of money not sure I’d want to leave it till the week before to sell them, yeah my partner would be there.

Terrible idea OP. This is one of those occasions you need to put yourself first.

PollyBell · 07/03/2026 07:02

If the pregnancy has no medical issues i cant see a neeed not to go

unsureforevermore · 07/03/2026 07:02

I just feel bad letting my friend down but I guess if I gave her enough notice she can decide whether she wanted to go or not.

Have been to a festival at 36 or 37 weeks pregnant, albeit not a massive one. I didn't have other children in tow though and I also am a very much get on with it sort of person - worked in a pretty demanding job until a couple of days before giving birth both times. I had a lovely time!

ACynicalDad · 07/03/2026 07:04

Can you find an airbnb or hotel round the corner and leave husband with kids at bed time?

No it’s not one where you can come and go and I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that either really if my partner needed toilet in the night he’d have to leave the kids on their own.

Which festival is it?

JulieMcCoy · 07/03/2026 07:08

I wouldn’t. I went to a huge outdoor event at about 6 months pregnant and my back and feet were killing me after a few hours. I was huge right from the start though, which didn’t help.

I would not consider going in these circumstances!

Starlight7080 · 07/03/2026 07:11

I think it depends on how you are feeling. Personally I wouldn't have been able to cope . I was huge at 33 weeks and constantly needing to use the bathroom.

TellMeWhatToWear · 07/03/2026 07:13

I think this is a really personal decision tbh. There’s nothing wrong with going to a festival at that point, but some women would find it fine and other women would find it impossible!

I don’t think you should worry too much about letting down your friend though, if she’s a decent person she’ll understand.

Hohofortherobbers · 07/03/2026 07:16

How have your other pregnancies been? Personally I would have been ok at 33 weeks to do this.

Hmm I feel like I can’t remember as my last pregnancy was 6 years ago. I think it’s more the toilet situation and the walking, there’s a lot of walking involved so if it’s hot (not likely in the UK) but has been a few times then if it’s wet will be very muddy. Then not sure about the portaloos being massive hahaha

We had day tickets for a similar sort of thing at about 28 weeks and I really found all the time on my feet a bit much. Whole weekend and 33 weeks, not for me.

Amberlynnswashcloth · 07/03/2026 07:28

It all sounds so uncomfortable. Getting up off the ground, having to negotiate uneven and slippery surfaces, having to queue for the toilet and poor hygiene would put me off this type of event while pregnant.

Buffypaws · 07/03/2026 07:28

it looks like a fairly pleasant festival to me. I’d prob go on condition that husband deals with children and would take one of those little chairs around. The toilets though… could be grim. I usually take Imodium before a festival and hope for the best.

Dairymilkisminging · 07/03/2026 07:36

I went to one in my hometown 10 days before baby was born. It was fine took a chair.
Had good fun

Did you camp or was it a day thing?

Does imodium stop you going toilet?? That would be a very long time to not go! Haha

also to note we have to carry all our tent and beds etc everything from the car to the sight which would be 15 minute walk probably
