Hi guys,
I’m about to become a dad at 19. I’ve been told this place is really good for any questions I have & also learning new things about parenting too.

i live in Derbyshire & im trying to get a house.. me and my partner are on the council, she’s 24 weeks along. We’re still in band D, even though we’ve handed her MapB1 form in.

we live together at my mum and dads house currently, where it is most definitely not suitable to raise a child, due to 4 other people living here.. the house is quite compact & cramped already. My room is not big enough to put a next to me crib inside of it. A double bed takes up over half the space in this room, to put it into perspective. From the bottom of the bed - to the wall is half a foot space. From the side of the bed - the wall beside me is foot and a half’s length.

all I’m trying to do is be the best parent & partner at the same time, all the while I’m losing my marbles over everything. I know everything doesn’t fall into place how you like, when you like in this pretty life but.. I’m just trying my hardest. I just want my partner to be settled into a house before she gives birth & I want to be able to take my baby home to a warm welcome home..

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me?

thank you.

OP I would ask MNHQ to move this to the parenting thread you might get more responses

You do this by clicking on the 3 dots on the top right of your post amd pressing report, then asking them to move it

Good luck.

I don't have any advice but just want to say that it sounds like you're a fantastic partner and are going to be a great dad. Bravo doing everything you can for your new family, good luck!
