Travelling with a 3 month old

Hello all ☺️

As a soon to be new mum, I'm looking for some advice about traveling with a newborn. My LO is due early April and we're travelling to Dublin for 2 nights in July when he'll be around 3 months old, but I'm unsure what to do about a travel system when we're there.

We've bought a beautiful Silver Cross travel system but the idea of letting Ryan Air get their hands on it (even in a travel bag) fills me full of dread, so I've looked online and seen you can hire travel systems via The Stork Exchange at Dublin Airport. They do have a Nuna Trvl Lx + Nuna Pipa Urbn Infant Seat that you can hire which looks like a good option, along with a BabyBjorn travel cot (none of it badly priced). Has anyone ever used this travel system with a newborn before OR used the Stork Exchange?

The pram has a lie almost flat option, would this be safe at 3 months for him?

I'll be using a baby carrier for the airport etc and possibly a little around Dublin, but I'm conscious baby needs to lie flat and may get a bit warm in the carrier in July... Weather dependent 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Any travel advice would be SO appreciated, other than trying to do some research online I'm a little clueless and anxious!

Thank you x

Why do you think baby needs to lie flat while travelling?! A baby carrier, or forms of it, is used worldwide, for centuries.

If you’re staying in a hotel you’ll probably find that they have cots/travel cots you can use, I just pack my own bedding.

You may love the silver cross pram you’ve bought but you haven’t used it yet and there aren’t many parents out there who don’t end up buying a cheap lightweight second pram at some point for various reasons weight/travel/spare at Nan’s etc maybe look at buying one, many of them are suitable from birth and both mine were too big for the carry cot parts at 3 months

Honestly, just travel with the baby carrier/sling etc, it saves so much hassle! Great for walking around a city, going into restaurants etc.

We're staying in an apartment, which after a quick check, can provide cots so I'll definitely do that! I had considered just buying a second cheap pram for travelling etc because we'll need one anyway at some point ☺️ just great to get others advice, I'm probably WAY overthinking it all haha!

I have a 3 month old and lying almost flat will definitely be fine, I think mine would probably be fine in a standard stroller seat so long as it was slightly reclined.
