Cold house with baby

I live in a cold drafty house. We’re expecting our first baby in November. I’m a little bit concerned about keeping our baby the right temperature - what do we need in the way of clothing? We’ll obviously try our best to keep the house warm, but it’s tricky. Is there anything else we need to know to prepare for a baby in a cold house? Thanks!

Gro Egg, and 2.5tog sleep bags. This will help you keep an eye on the room temperature and a sleep bag will ensure baby isn't kicking blankets off.
There are charts online to show how to dress a baby in all sorts of temperatures.

A good rule of thumb is for baby to wear the same number (and quality) of layers as you. If you are active and they are not then give them an extra layer.

Check their temperature by feeling their chest or back (not hands or forehead).

We've brought up 3 DC in a house which is regularly 13° in the morning in winter, warming to ~15 at lunchtime.

Proper wool is a great insulator though requires more careful washing.

Babies have a much larger surface to volume ratio and hence lose heat to their surroundings much more quickly than someone bigger
