Going to claim uc soon but I need to know a few things here goes
im self employed average 35-40 hrs per week average £1300 per month after deductions partner don’t work home schooling our 12yr old what I need to know is the work coach going to expect my partner to look for work be ready for work etc or will my hours and income be sufficient . Thank you all.

I'm not on UC but a relative is and I believe you both have to work, on the old system tax credits I believe it was done on house hold hours worked but not on the new system. Could he get a evening/weekend job for a few hours think needs to be 12 hours but I could be totally wrong.

Can your partner get a part time job? Weekends , evenings ?

It’s a total mine field really stressing us out I’ve read conflicting answers so still no better off might have to give help line a call on Monday

At the moment there is a couples AET which is £1189 however so now you should be OK but there is talk of bringing in individual AETs for both partners.

If your child is entitled to diasability payments/wife claims carers then she would be able to stay as is even if the new AET is introduced.

After your first year claiming as you are self employed they will bring in a 'minimum income floor' maybe look that up.

You may be over the earnings threshold where they ask your partner to look for work. But if not they will not accept home education as a reason not to work

Thanks guys that's helped, seems a bit clearer now but I read that self employed earnings do not count towards aet so still a little confusing, brains hurting now I had heared it's so complexed for self employed now I know why🤕
