4 year old refusing to drink water due to change of bottle

Hi all, first time using this site so haven't a clue if I've even posted this in the right place! Desperate for help, my 4 year old has always used a "sippy cup" from being about 6 months old and has always point blank refused to drink from any other cup/ bottle apart from these certain cups, so obviously thats not ideal at all for a 4 year old, however, the dreaded has happened and the last sippy cup has broken. We have offered him several other cups/bottles and it seems he would rather not drink, than drink out of anything else. Has anyone had this before? If so, can you please please please give me advice, I'm at my wits end 😢 xx

How long has he gone without drinking? I doubt he'll wait long enough to dehydrate himself, so just wait till he asks for a drink and give him whatever cup you have - or leave a couple by the sink if he can get his own drinks.

@thewatermeloncarriedbybaby it's been since he came home from nursery yesterday dinnertime, he still hasn't had anything as of yet. I have left several bottles out for him to choose from but he seems he'd just rather not have a drink?

Can you tell us the brand, link to an image so we can help find a replacement? In the meantime put out a shout on your local sm pages, maybe ring local church toddler groups and other places that might have a cupboard of random sippy cups?

Will he eat cereal with milk, also increase watery food intake, cucumber, berries, soup, ice poles too.

Have you tried a straw? Sometimes this works for novelty.

Also, plastic tea set. Have a toys tea party in the garden. Let him pour water from the teapot and make drinks for everyone.

@Daftapath love the idea of the tea set!

OP could it be nice that you’re putting too much pressure on him? Can you ignore the issue for a bit, but leave the bottles and an open cup spread about the place for him to try when you’re not watching?

Excuse the typo: “Could it be that you’re putting too much pressure…” *

You could also use the tea set in the bath if you can bear the thought of him drinking bath water! Grin
