Child and working tax credit when on mat leave

Hi all

I am currently receiving maternity allowance £145 a week and £20 child benefit and will have this throughout my mat leave which is until September 2019

My baby daughter is 7 weeks old. Me and my boyfriend live with my parents rent free as we are saving for a mortage deposit.

I worked 20 hrs a week before I went off for maternity and will be doing the same when my leave is over. My boyfriend works 30 hrs.

Can I claim child and working tax credit on top of mat allowance & child benefit? I have made a claim and I am awaiting a decision

Congratulations on your new LO poppy Thanks

I have no idea on what you can claim sorry as it's all changed since I had my DC.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who knows more Smile

Tax credits go off how much you earn, not on how many hours you do. You might have to be on universal credit though, if you're a new claimant.

There are a few calculators online, the Gov.uk ones are good.

They said I can't have child tax or working tax as I am on a high mat pay of 145 a week and 20 CB. And have no household costs as I live with my parents

Who did?

I made my first claim when I was on maternity leave in 2003. It doesn't matter what you're on, as long as your salary is a certain amount.

Not sure of the universal credit rules though.
