I'm a new mum to a 4 week old DS. He had a bit of a rash so we started with some nappy off time yesterday. I bathed him first and apart from having to refill the tub due to poorly timed wee just as I lowered him in, it went fine (bar the crying but he hates baths atm!)
Afterwards I put him on a towel on his changing mat downstairs on front of a low gas fire. All was well for around 10 minutes, he then were over the bottom half of himself and me (again!) He then didn't like being on the mat and started crying. I tried to soothe him while he was lying down but he got more and more worked up so I picked him up still on the towel and started breastfeeding. Within minutes he did a runny poo on the towel, Floor and me. We ended up.putting his nappy on after 15 minutes (I'd aimed for 30 minutes but it was all a bit much by that point!)
I was wondering if the world of mumsnet had any tips or tricks to deal with nappy off time? Don't get me wrong, getting pissed and pooed on didn't particular bother me, that's what babies do! But if there are any insider tricks to make it easier to deal with I'd appreciate the help
