I'm starting a new job in September. (After 9 years out of paid work) I really need to plan ahead and organise my time/energy/money to cope with working and family life.
Please share your best practical tips for getting organised and keeping sane.

Congrats on the job!
Some ideas: batch cook freezer meals, buy and use a diary / family calendar, delegate, get family to help with chores, get a cleaner if you can afford one, plan how to use time on your commute (eg getting life admin done on bus / train or making calls from handsfree if in car), make yourself lunch for work the night before or take leftovers to save time in the morning and money.
Also get planning a treat for yourself to spend some of your first pay check on! Grin

Wow, congratulations @tendril. I’m probably the worst person to ask for organisational tips but there will be plenty of MNers who should be able to help. Are you going back to work full Time?

What's the rest of your family situation - DH? DCs etc as that's a big part of it - everyone needs to understand that things have changed and you're not going to be able to do it all yourself.

DH and I meal plan together on a Sunday usually so we can talk about who's in / out and then it's no thought needed plus shopping all done on Monday for the week.
