Hi there.

I’m new to this and was wondering if anyone has any advice?

In short I’ve been battling doctors weekly for the past (almost) 10 weeks for my baby (she is almost 3 months and is my second). I was certain she had reflux from birth and was eventually prescribed ranitidine and gaviscon for the the reflux but we still had a lot of symptoms of something else going on and eventually 2 weeks ago the doctor prescribed nutramigen. After 7 days it was like we had a different baby and we thought we had finally found the solution to all our problems!!!

That was until 3 days ago when the choking and vomiting started again and a new symptom of mucous in her poo (although not every time). She has maintained her other symptoms (congestion, rash, scaly skin, struggles to wind etc etc) although they are less severe. The choking is becoming increasingly worse and now even I’m becoming panicked when it happens - I’ve been pretty good with dealing with it!

I guess I just don’t know what to do from here. I can’t stand to see my baby in pain and uncomfortable. She is really frightened when she chokes and panics. I don’t know if this is the reflux or the formula or both.

My instinct is to take her back to the gp and get a referral for a paediatrician to have her reviewed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Smile

Definitely take her back to GP. See if you can try neocate formula. Some babies with CMPA also have allergies to soya and egg, and I think nutramigen contains soya.

Thank you! It didn’t occur to me that something else could cause another reaction. I think I probably go back to the gp. I’ve been so often I should have my own chair!!

Good luck OP. My DS has been to the doctors soooo many times, especially as he has had all jabs and newborn appointments too. Feel like I live there.

Fwiw, we've had to cut out dairy, soya (including lecithins) and egg to see an improvement. When we weaned, we found he also can't tolerate gluten or oat. Fun fun. We're waiting for our referral to come through.
