New to this dizzy world. It's day 15 and I think I'm getting some relief. Is it normal to have brain fog with this or am I just lucky

How do you know it is this rather than something else?

Tailfeather · 25/02/2018 22:56

Ugh! Such a horrible feeling. Hope it clears up soon OP. Thanks

Ent said that's what it is. So going with that. Woke up from me one morning. Had a cup of coffee and been dizzy every since.

What is an Ent?

I was on my back with it for nearly six weeks, backwards and forwards to gp, lots of different tablets. I thought I might have an abscess on a tooth so hubby took me to dentist, who did not think so but gave me antibiotics anyway. The antibiotics cleared up the ear problem. I had an MRI saw the consultant who diagnosed vestibular neuritis.

I had physio. epley manoevre which did not make a difference, but the physio gave me exercises to retrain my brain. Even now five years later I have trouble coming down escalators, have to close my eyes because my brain gets confused with the information it is receiving. Ditto high shelves in supermarkets. You have my sympathy, it is awful.

Brain fog was normal in my case.

My first symptom was double vision on road signs oddly enough. I drove to work one morning was sat talking to a colleague then had to go throw up. I was in such a state could not talk, they thought I had had a stroke.

I had this and I have never been quite right again! We knew something was bad when I had to come down our perfectly normal stairs on my bottom. It was like being seasick/drunk at the same time. The worst passed in six weeks but it took months to feel anywhere near normal. I hope your case is milder. Good luck and rest, rest, rest.

You poor thing - I have had this a few times, and it's total misery.
Try this - it does actually work, but you might have to do it a few times.

I had labyrinthitis 6 years ago. This is the first winter (touch wood) since that I haven’t had a spinny/dizzy spell. My GP had told me that viral illness might revive it & she was right - the dizzy spells/walking into door jambs presaged every cold/throat infection/URTI for the following 5 winters, though lessening each time. I have found even mild recurrences really tiring - I suspect your brain has to work twice as hard trying to make sense of alm the scrambled sensory input.
