I have mine end of August, i have failed twice already but am a very nervous person. Lots of luck for you!

Hi there.

First of all, good luck!

I passed first time but that was in 1996 so I would think the test has changed somewhat since then. All you can do is be confident and do your best :)

Clarky14 · 12/07/2017 11:11

Well done for passing first time in 1996 I wished I done mine in 2002 but had other plans I'm sorry to hear that you failed yes I think the nerves will get the better of me 😩

You will pass, just not necessarily on your first attempt.
I passed on my second go, way back in 1981.
And EmmMac has it right. You know what to do, and you've done it many a time, you just have to be confident, although not overly, as my examiner pointed out on my second try, as I went in determined not to fail, and was a bit too self assured for his liking, but as I hadn't made any errors, he had to pass me, albeit begrudgingly.
Here's a tip from my days of playing in an orchestra:- just before you get in the car to start the test, place the thumb and forefinger of each hand in your mouth and wet them. Now gently pull on the lobes of your ears to wet them. The effect is quite amazing as it instantly calms your nerves.
Good luck!

I passed my test first time, was quite nervous aswell. My advice would be try get the test as early in the day as possible (works traffic),when I done mine there was loads of traffic jams so we had to keep changing route and doing different things. It helped me take mind of the nerves as I had to much to concentrate on. Plus if your in a traffic jam the full test time and don't make a mistake sitting there or tge short drive to and from test centre technically I think they should have to pass you Hmm good luck

That was meant to be a thinking face, don't mix alcohol with driving Confused

My tip is to narrate your test. I passed third time and talked the whole way through. Not sure if it made me sound mental but I figured the examiner wouldn't mind (I did warn him) and it sort of helped. It was a bit 'right I'm approaching the roundabout nothing is on my right so I can go...' type thing. Sounds a bit silly but I swear it really helped me concentrate on the driving itself

Unfortunately I failed I mounted the kerb was a busy road it was at 8:30 in the morning have rebooked it for September now for 10:34 odd time really my examiner talking about 2 mins I had my instructor at the back everything went wrong 🙈 So next time no instructor at the back for 2nd test I thought it would calm me but no congratulations on passing tho hopefully when it comes around soon I hopefully pass this time

Sorry to hear that, but on the upside, think about it as now you've had a test, you've been under the pressure, Been in that environment, you now know what to expect the next time. If you can take that from your experience it will help manage nerves next time, keep you calm and give more confidence one of the main things they look for is a good level of confidence on the roads. And between now and September make sure you have a lesson a week otherwise you may forget stuff, get sloppy etc. Good luck for September op

rondetto · 27/07/2017 10:31

Good luck, it's best be be a bit nervous on the day to do well. Those who are over confident usually do badly. So don't worry if you do get nervous.

Clarky14 · 27/07/2017 13:32

Thanks all I will try and keep calm and as you said I be a lot better as I know what to expect next time my instructor said he can't teach me no more then I already know only to remind me of mistakes so all I'm going to do is do more practice with my hubby it's just this stupid reverse round a corner 😁

Rondetto makes a good point, a bit nerves should keep your wits about you. Practice with hubby should be a good idea too

Clarky14 · 27/07/2017 18:09
