After finding this forum often in search results for queries,I thought I'd join up.
I'm a 52yr old mum of grown up children,so hope it's ok to be here.

My daughter is 27,married with two beautiful girls and my 20yr old son lives at home,he's autistic and needs support.

Anyway, hope to find a comfy corner with plenty of coffee and cushions where I can make some new friends. It seems to be a friendly place, full of good advice.

Hello new people and welcome.
Grumpy there is a SN topic where I'm certain you will get like minded and relevant support.

Everywhere else is civilised but AIBU can be very robust so do a recce first Grin

Guessing with Glam you will like style I think the guys there love marks and Spencer or summat.

(Choose a nickname user or you will blend in too much)

There is a list of acronyms somewhere as well DC DP DW stbexbildn etc.

FreeNiki · 10/02/2017 14:12

NN chosen! Will look at acronyms.

DramaAlpaca · 10/02/2017 14:14

Hello new MNers, nice to meet you.

I'm the same age as you Grumpy and have DC aged between 23 & 19. There are lots of people with older teenagers & grown up children on here so you'll fit right in. Plenty of MNers with no children too, it's a very inclusive place.

Have fun & see you around!

GrumpyLyn · 10/02/2017 14:17

Thanks for the welcomes.Am just lurking and getting the ''feel'' of the forums before I jump in - don't want to upset people as I tend to type first and think afterwards, much as I am when I'm chatting!

Afternoon to everyone. I am a student at the final year of my dissertation. The topic is, How social media can influence the selection of a restaurant by potential diners. What is your thought about?

Hi Grumplyn and everyone! So glad to find someone with older children on here Mine are 20 still at home and not earning yet so I still feel like a mum but more isolated now the school run has finally finished ! Lots of interesting stuff on here though and I treat lots of families One of the children I treat got the word chiropractor confused with pirate catcher which I find really funny hence the name x

Piratecatcher · 21/02/2017 13:12

Great I have 20 year old twins at home. So nice to feel welcome. Still feel like a Mum !

DramaAlpaca · 21/02/2017 14:27

Piratecatcher the story about your username made me smile. Mine is from the time when my youngest DS, who was about 3 at the time & making a big fuss about nothing in particular, told me he wasn't being a drama llama, he was a drama alpaca. He's 19 now & hasn't a clue that he inspired me.

All three of mine are at home, two have lived away for a while but come back for various reasons, and now I can't seem to get rid of them Grin. It's nice to have them around though.

monicabmnunes · 22/02/2017 15:13

Hello! I've just joined mumsnet after often finding the group on google searches and always finding the posts very helpful. I have 2 boys (twins) that are almost 4 years old and still go to nursery until august/18. We are currently looking at houses in the Dundee area (Live near Stirling at the moment) and my main concern is finding the perfect house in a place that will not have a good nursery nearby. I need to move somewhere where the nursery is within a walking distance. We're looking in Dundee or the surrounding areas such as Monifieth, Forfar (don't even know all the names). I know it is not very specific, but any nurseries I should be aware as a DEFINITELY NOT? Choosing the wrong nursery scares me to bits. And what are your favorite nurses in these areas? Thanks a lot!!

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2017 15:57

Hi monicabmnunes there is a Scotsnet section on MN where someone might be able to give you specific help. Here it is Scotsnet

Michelle58 · 23/02/2017 12:41

Hi Girls

I'm a little older than most - nearer 60 than 50, so I hope I'm not too old either.

I'm married and a Mum of grown up boy and into music, cycling and nice clothes. Also the occasional Saturday out with friends
