After lurking for years, and having just read the ' poo crumbs' thread i decided it was time to join so i can get my 2 pence worth in!

Hello everyone, its my first time on here and im hopeing you ladies can give me some advice

Im going through the dreaded menopause i was on the hrt patch which worked for a couple of weeks then i went on a hrt tablets and its not helping at all its made me feel so depressed, any advice please

Hello newbies! And poo crumbs is a great topic to start off with. Can I recommend the wanking monkeys thread to you? It is a hoot.

precious - there's a whole menopause board. If you want to stick with the HRT (I'm lucky, it's worked brilliantly for me) there's a great poster on there who is really clued up, and in particular seems reallly knowledgeable about bio-identical HRT (my body must be that of an old cart horse, because the conjugate equine horse-piss based stuff works fine for me). Failing that there are loads of great suggestions on coping without HRT, both for those not comfortable with HRT and those for whom it is ruled out on medical grounds. Things like replace your duvet with wool blankets, have separate duvets on your and DH's half of the bed with different togs, those spray things you can use to spritz your face when you have a hot flush, etc. (Having left my childbearing ludicrously late in life, I now have menopausal symptoms and a very bouncy 8 year old! I may not be a granny, but I am a great aunt).

You need a thick skin around here sometimes, there are some caustic folks that walk among us. Don't worry about people recognizing you as a newbie though - there are thousands on here, and people name change all the time (I do), so no one would know you were new.

Beware though - MN is a time vampire which sucks hours of productive time from your life ....
