Hi

i I received a diagnosis of adhd through right to choose but the particular provider has substantial wait times for medication. I am considering paying privately for medication but there are so many options I don’t know where to start and also want to ensure whatever I chose is reputable due to the cost. Can anyone help? Thanks

You can try getting help from any trusted medical advisor. ADHD Certify can help you get diagnosed and also suggest you possible management plan. Below provided is the link: Private ADHD Assessment UK

I feel your pain. We're going through the same with DD.

Just a heads up though... Whilst you can get meds from a private provider during titration and beyond, if you ever want to transfer back to NHS provision, many GPs are refusing new shared care agreement plans from private providers (on often tenuous patient safety grounds)... meaning you'll be stuck paying for private prescriptions and the meds long term.

If you do decide to go down the private route, my advice would be to choose a provider that has an existing contract for adult ADHD services with the NHS, even though you'll be paying... If you ever need to go back to NHS led care, an 'NHS approved' private provider's shared care plan isn't as easily dismissed / can be appealed compared to providers the NHS don't deal with.
