I've always had suspicions that My 10yo ds may be neurodiverse , but his teachers couldn't really put their finger on what it might be over the years.
His teacher has approached me this week to suggest we may want to get him tested for autism, but if we choose not to he will still move through school and into secondary with a support plan in place.
He's just a bit quirky , with a bit of OCD (door locking , switch checking , likes symmetry) , he's very like his dad (who probably is undiagnosed autistic) , he's got a couple of lovely best friends but struggles to read the room sometimes socially (particularly when he's not with his best friends) and I worry that this may trip him up as he gets older!
My gut says fill in the form for the NHS route even though it will take 2 years , and see how he gets on in the meantime..but are we better to pay to go private and try to get something in place before he heads to secondary in September? (I'm not sure how long the private route takes but assume it's remarkably quicker than NHS)
Any advice appreciated
