Just been referred via right to choose for an ADHD assessment at the age of 51. My career is in tatters, my house is a mess! What can I do in the meantime to help me get back on track - advice/ tips please.

I'm in a sort of similar situation: in my late 50s, life a complete mess. I'm not diagnosed but have ADHD traits in abundance, along with some autistic ones.

I've found "The Mini ADHD Coach" book by Alice Gendron very useful. It's accessible and attractively presented, full of useful tips and strategies and can be easily dipped into and out of at will (very handy for ADHD personalities). She also has content online, though I haven't looked at it in any detail, so it's likely you could find that useful too.

Good luck! It really is a struggle, I know, but there is help and advice available.

If you can afford it - you could get yourself a coach who understands ADHD/ Autism whom might be able to provide you with support and talk through the goals you want to achieve.

I've been working with Sarah from www.reframeandrise.co.uk and she's been so helpful at supporting me to understand how my brain works and how I can get what I need to in order! She's much cheaper than other coaches I've come across too

Reframe and Rise

Reframe and Rise offers coaching, training and leadership development, while keeping professionals in mind who are diagnosed or identify as neurodivergent who want to grow, feel seen, and reclaim their value.

@NDAdvocate I've been looking for a coach who understands neurodiversity so thanks for this recommendation! I was wondering if you would mind sharing how much she charges for a session? I've looked on her website and can't see a price. It looks like I would need to book a call with her to find out, but it's sometimes easier to know beforehand just in case it's completely out of my budget! Thank you. 🙂

I think she prices based on individual circumstances hence no prices on her website. But I paid £60 a session but I bought 6 up front. So individual sessions might be more. She’s really kind so I would just book the call with her and see what’s possible!

@NDAdvocate That's great, thank you for letting me know!

Read the book "So you mean I'm not lazy, stupid or crazy?!"

It's a brilliant introduction to ADHD esp from the perspective of women diagnised as adults, and contains a lot of lightbulb moments and useful suggestions.
