Has anyone else realised there own neurodiverse Traits after completing the forms and assessments for your child's diagnosis?

Have you then sought your own diagnosis? Have you found this beneficial to your self?

Yes I did, and also sought diagnosis. The assessor for dc1 and 3 actually recommended it. I originally acknowledged that I was probably on the spectrum however I didn't need a diagnosis. However I claim pip for physical disability and am unable to work. I mentioned on the form/at assessment that I felt asd probably was a barrier for me and the assessor said 'oh everyone uses that as an excuse these days'. So I got assessed (via the nhs) so I have proof. I waited to go through the nhs because I didn't want to be told by the pip assessor that my assessment wasn't usable because it was a private assessment. Has it helped? Not really but I'd already acknowledged that asd was probably the cause of a lot of issues growing up, hopefully it will help with my pip assessment. I think it helped dd and ds (both teens) because they didn't acknowledge it till the assessment. My GP was very supportive when I told him why I'd suddenly decided to apply.
