Hi, i have a GP appt on friday for my lovely 13 year old DD.
She feels different and believes she may be ND. She has problems with crowds, textures, smells, noise etc
Is there anything I should mention to the doc?
This is all so new so I just want to get the best out of the appt

Hi. Anyone?

Hi, I went through the doctors for a assessment referral for my son and it got refused because the doctors don’t know him enough, if you feel your child needs a ND assessment the best person to speak to would be your child’s schools SENCo who would do the referral. However the wait times on the nhs is approximately 4 years but you can choose the right to choose for a asd and adhd assessment which is a lot shorter. I will try to find the link but it is a list of providers who offer assessment, you would need to choose which one you want to go down, print out the referral forms and fill out questionnaire and take it into the doctors for them to make a referral. Asd assessment seem to be quicker than adhd assessment.

How did you get on @Cowsontheloose?

Cowsontheloose · 06/09/2025 23:23

We saw a lovely GP. He asked us to get intouch with senco at school, which i have done this week.
She seemed very supportive and we are back at the GP at the send of this month

I’m so pleased that the GP was supportive. How was SENCO when you contacted them?

Cowsontheloose · 08/09/2025 22:12

Very positive and proactive. She is going to help fiĺl the forms in and also make all DDs teachers aware.
Thats were were at for now, but pleased it's been taken seriously

I’m so pleased. Hopefully it’s the first step for your DD to understand herself better and get some support.
