ADHD adulting tips

I've been diagnosed for 6 years now - generally doing okay but having a particularly 'active ADHD' time at the moment.

It's really hormone related - my focus is poorer after my period in the follicular phase. It can feel uncontrollable.

I am quite good at self regulating and accept that my brain needs to work differently during this time e.g. a clear to do list and task focused approach.

The problem is my to do list is messy, my brain wants to spider diagram, and my tasks will take 3-4 hours of hyperfocus each to complete.

I don't have endless time and I need to prioritise, but don't know what to prioritise because...to do list.

I know that I had some major stress and that has taken its toll. I know I just have to sit and organise myself, but can't regulate to do it.

I guess just going with one day at a time - what needs doing today (I.e. tomorrow)...

Maybe I need a recurring reminder in my calendar for this time that says ' one day at a time'. I'm going to post this here to remind me to put the reminder in.

How are other late diagnosed people with ADHD getting on?

You might find 'The Mini ADHD Coach' book by Alice Gendron useful. She has content online too. I've found her approach and presention of material, particularly life hacks, very easy to relate to.

Thanks, will look at that. I woke up remembering quite a good strategy / idea which is around sequencing events.

So having sequences that I aim to follow in my personal life to help with feeling more organised.
