Anyone else diagnosed and medicated for ADHD late 50s?

Interested in hearing experiences at this age. I suspect that I will only regret not doing it sooner so that chaos behind me was not so great.

I am wondering if its even worth it now as life less complicated (children raised, career demolished!).

What are the impacts of untreated/unsupported ADHD in older age?

I haven't been diagnosed but it's pretty clear cut that I have ADHD. The understanding and acknowledgment means that so much makes sense now. I have had several appointments booked to diagnose me but haven't ended up going (go figure!). I'm not sure what being medicated will actually achieve now...now I know what is wrong I have a better understanding of why I do things, the people around me are also aware. I like myself far more now than I ever have done. Im 51 and in a very similar situation to you.

Personally I will spend the money on getting my son diagnosed, so that he doesn't spend his adult life feeling the way I did.

Not exactly what you were asking, sorry!

To be honest op I dunno if it's really worth going on stimulant medication if you aren't working or studying etc. It's helpful for requiring focus on tasks but I'm not sure of the benefits of taking them when you don't 'need to'. They come with a lot of side effects, I've always been advised take them when needed and have breaks at weekends etc.
